Diller Law LLP has announced a landmark civil rights settlement resolving the litigation brought by David and Ina Steiner, founders of EcommerceBytes, against eBay and several former executives over the company’s 2019 cyberstalking campaign aimed at silencing their reporting. The resolution includes $48.7 million in compensation, $6 million in charitable contributions from eBay, and an additional $1 million from former CEO Devin Wenig to a First Amendment charity in Ina Steiner’s name.
eBay will also issue a strongly-worded public statement about its former executives’ conduct, and the settlement contains no confidentiality provision, allowing the Steiners to speak freely.
