Diller Law Blog
After an accident or serious injury, reliable information can help you understand the issues that may affect your next steps. Our blog covers Massachusetts personal injury law, insurance claims, public safety, medical concerns, and developments involving our Boston law firm.
We write for injured people, families, caregivers, and community members who want clear explanations without unnecessary legal language. These articles provide general information rather than legal advice, and reading them does not create an attorney-client relationship.
Personal Injury Information for Boston Readers
Personal injury law addresses harm caused by unsafe conduct, dangerous property conditions, defective products, and other preventable events. Our articles explain legal concepts such as negligence, liability, damages, insurance coverage, and filing deadlines in plain language. We also discuss how these issues may arise in Boston and communities throughout Massachusetts.
Understand the Practical Issues After an Accident
An injury can affect medical care, employment, transportation, finances, and family responsibilities. Our blog explains why documents such as medical records, photographs, witness information, incident reports, and insurance correspondence may become important. Readers can also learn about common claim procedures and the questions that often arise while an injury matter is pending.
Find Information that Matches Your Concerns
Our posts are organized around subjects such as personal injury, vehicle accidents, premises liability, safety, insurance, and law firm news. Readers can use our personal injury law blog to explore recent posts and locate articles related to a particular concern. Because every situation is different, general information should not replace advice based on the specific facts of a potential claim.
Topics Covered on Our Blog
Motor Vehicle Accidents and Insurance Claims
Car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, and pedestrian accidents can raise questions about fault, insurance benefits, medical bills, and lost income. We publish articles about crash reporting, distracted driving, impaired driving, road hazards, seasonal conditions, and Personal Injury Protection coverage. Massachusetts requires certain crashes involving injury, death, or more than $1,000 in property damage to be reported within five days.
Unsafe Property and Defective Products
Property owners, businesses, manufacturers, and other parties may have responsibilities related to reasonably safe conditions and products. Our posts discuss subjects such as falls, snow and ice, construction hazards, animal attacks, fires, inadequate maintenance, and product recalls. These matters often depend on who controlled the property or product, what that party knew, and whether reasonable precautions were taken.
Public Safety and Injury Prevention
Some articles focus on reducing the risk of injury before an accident occurs. Topics may include bicycle safety, water safety, ladder use, defensive driving, winter weather, and precautions for seasonal activities. This information is intended to help Boston residents and Massachusetts families recognize hazards and make informed safety choices.
Understanding Massachusetts Personal Injury Claims
Negligence generally means failing to use the level of care that a reasonably careful person would use under similar circumstances. A claim may require evidence showing that someone had a legal duty, failed to meet it, and caused an injury with measurable losses. The evidence needed depends on the event, the parties involved, and the legal rules that apply.
Shared Fault May Affect Compensation
More than one person or business may bear responsibility for an accident. Under the Massachusetts comparative negligence law, an injured person may recover when their negligence is not greater than the combined negligence of the parties from whom recovery is sought. Any award is reduced according to the injured person’s percentage of fault, so disputed evidence about how an accident occurred can matter.
Deadlines Can Differ by Claim
Massachusetts generally allows three years to file many tort actions under General Laws Chapter 260, Section 2A. Different deadlines or notice requirements may apply to claims involving public entities, medical treatment, defective improvements to real property, minors, or other circumstances. Waiting can also make records harder to locate and memories less reliable, even when a filing deadline has not passed.
Why Records and Evidence Matter
Photographs and videos can document vehicle positions, property conditions, lighting, weather, warning signs, visible injuries, and surrounding hazards. Witness names and contact details may help preserve accounts from people who saw what happened. When police officers, property managers, employers, or businesses prepare reports, requesting or retaining a copy can help create a more complete record.
Medical Documentation
Prompt medical attention can protect a person’s health and identify injuries that are not immediately obvious. Treatment records may show symptoms, diagnoses, restrictions, recommended care, and how an injury changes over time. Following medical guidance and keeping appointments can also reduce gaps in the record that may later require explanation.
Financial and Insurance Records
An injury may lead to medical bills, transportation expenses, reduced work hours, missed pay, or a need for household assistance. Pay statements, tax documents, receipts, benefit records, and employer communications can help document those effects. Insurance policies and claim letters should also be kept because coverage terms, exclusions, and deadlines may influence how a matter proceeds.

Working with Our Boston Personal Injury Lawyers
An initial conversation allows you to explain the accident, injury, and concerns that brought you to our website. Useful details may include when and where the event happened, which parties were involved, and whether an insurer has contacted you. You do not need to understand every legal issue before reaching out.
Bring the Information You Have
Available photographs, reports, medical documents, insurance letters, and witness details may help us understand the situation. It is fine when some records are missing or have not yet been requested. We can discuss what information may be relevant after learning more about the matter.
Receive Information Based on Your Circumstances
A blog post cannot account for every fact, deadline, defense, or insurance provision that may affect an injury claim. During a consultation, our attorneys can review the available details and explain possible legal options without promising a particular result. Any attorney-client relationship would begin only after we agree in writing to provide representation.
